Deadly Mob is an innovative project now operating in Alice Springs based at the Gap Youth Centre. It provides support through mentoring to young people at risk, exposing them to other experiences of life and increasing their opportunities.

Deadly Mob required a web based email solution to make email access more widely available for the indigenous youth of Alice Springs and the Northern Territory. This solution was supported by a road trip around the Northern Territory by Deadly Mob staff to demonstrate the use of the Deadly Mob website, including the web-based email. This trip was used to create interest in the email service and to teach the target market how to register for the service.

The business objectives included:

• to provide a solution that integrates into their existing website via simple registration / login;
• to provide web email functionality appropriate to the target audience;
• to allow Deadly Mob staff basic administration.

Speedwell integrated the IMAIL web product to create a fully operational web-based email solution.  This solution offered users all standard email facilities including signin, email composition, filing and an ability to add attachments.   Administrators of the system had the ability to view user statistics and to configure various user options such as file size limitations.

In addition to developing the application, Speedwell also manages the hosting of the solution at Webcentral, Australia's largest hosting company.  All technical queries regarding the hosting platform, IMAIL software and server performance are currently managed by Speedwell on behalf of the Deadly Mob team.
