In the period leading up to the East Timor crisis,
the Department of Defence needed to empower its staff to create and maintain
websites in a controlled environment.
Selected
from over 100 tender applicants Australia-wide, Speedwell was chosen to
develop a database solution that could create content, as well as set
security permission levels to publish, monitor and analyse its usage.
Authorised users were able to select a suitable template for a site component
and then add text and other content from a pre-approved library e.g. image
or video library.
The new content was then passed
on for authorisation and electronic sign-off. Logs were recorded
to monitor and track all system activity. This system was used to
build the official Australian Defence Force East Timor site, together
with the web sites of over 150 Army units Australia wide.
