When to Use Custom Maintenance Systems
Custom content management systems are
needed:
- when it is more efficient to enter and display
the information using a database; and
- third party systems are not able to cost-effectively
be adapted to suit the requirements.
The custom modules integrate seamlessly with the rest
of the site, and can be used in conjunction with most other methods of
managing content.
Examples
We have put custom systems to
work for a range of applications for our clients, including:
- managing media releases
- administering image galleries, online surveys and
forms
- calculator applications
- banner ad rotator
- events management
- posting job vacancies and collecting and archiving
resumes
Applications and Intranets
A couple of points are worth mentioning
to put custom systems in context. Firstly, custom systems are programmed
applications, which often change over time to accommodate an organisation’s
specific needs.
Secondly, your organisation will update the information
entered into custom systems by logging into a secure admin area, which
often evolves into or is assimilated by your Intranet.
After all, posting information to the Internet is the same process as
administering information to be use internally.
